Statistics of MBTI Personality Types

The distribution of MBTI types is not uniform — some types are far more common than others.

Most people fall on the Sensing side of the spectrum (73% Sensing) and on the Feeling side (60% Feeling), with a balance between introversion and extroversion. The largest gender difference appears in Thinking versus Feeling, where men tend more toward Thinking and women tend more toward Feeling. A small number of types make up a disproportionately large share of the population — especially SJ types, with ISFJ, ESFJ, and ISTJ alone accounting for more than one third. Meanwhile, Intuitive types remain a minority, making up about 25%–30% of the population. This creates a natural imbalance between practical approaches that focus on the present and more abstract, future-oriented perspectives.

The five rarest types are:

INTJ, INFJ, ENTJ, ENFJ, ENTP

Together, they make up approximately 11% of the population.
